First group, the epithelia, they include cells that made up our skin and secretory glands, and mucous lining. Second group, muscle tissues and third nervous tissues.

While the rest of the tissues that do not belong to the above mentioned 3 groups are collectively called “connective tissues”, they are the fourth and largest group. Connective tissues present in every part of our body, they form structures ranging from bones, interstitial of internal organs, cartilages of joints to walls of blood vessels. Connective tissues diseases are inflammatory diseases that cause destruction of various connective tissues, target may be different for each specific disease, but nevertheless they all have one thing in common – they are all auto-immune diseases.

So, what are the most common false believes about RA?

1. It only involve joint – nothing can be further from the truth, RA is a systemic disease, almost always it involves joints, but not only joints are affected, as a matter of fact, all organs can be involved in inflammatory process, it is therefore wise to treat not only the joints, but take preventory steps as well such as IV glucocorticoids injections, to avoid organ damages.

          ]]>

2. RA can be cured – No, absolutely no, current recommended medications can only control the symptoms and slow down or even halt the progress of the disease.

3. It only has to do with genes – a rule of thumb for all auto-immune disease. There must always be 2 factors present at the same time for them to occur. First predisposition, for example genes, second, triggering factors, for example stresses, cigarette viral infections and other diseases.

4. It can only happen to women – wrong, ratio of women sufferers to men is 3:1, so, men are not spared from the disease even though it occurs more rarely.

5. Children cannot get Rheumatoid Arthritis – wrong, there is a specific form of RA in children and teenager, call Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis (JRA). What more alarming is that, JRA progress much faster that adult RA, and deformities occur at much younger age.

It is a condition that causes pain, limited movement and swelling. Is estimated to affect approximately 1 in 100 people, but homeopathy offers a solution through personalized treatments.

Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, degenerative disease characterized by causing inflammation in the synovial membrane (tissue that nourishes, protects and covers the cartilage) in joints. It is very common, especially in people who belong to the elderly, and unfortunate women, are the preferred target of this disease.

Inflammation of the membrane is responsible for the pain, swelling and stiffness sensation that patients may feel in the morning, although it is clear that each case is different and there are patients whose symptoms increase with humidity, cold, and even heat. Furthermore, this condition is more common in the joints of the wrists, fingers and toes (toes) and shoulder, hip, knees and ankles.

We talked about the times when the pain gets worse or suffers the effects of the body with moisture, not to mention the specific kind of discomfort you are and if they grow with rest or motion. To this we must add what kind of character are the patient, their mindset, tastes and feelings.

Rheumatoid arthritis is the leading cause of permanent disability and 1 in 100 people suffers from it. Contrary to popular belief, is not a condition exclusive to a certain gender or age, but can affect almost anyone.

Whenever we talk of rheumatoid arthritis is a condition immediately think only women, but also affects men. Some studies about the above explained by the action exerted by the male hormones that protect the joints. Although this disease occurs most often between 45 and 55 years of age should not be classified as typical of the elderly because it can also affect children.

What is Rheumatoid Arthritis?
The fact that the frictions between the bones are soft due to the action of cartilage. These, in turn, are protected and covered by a membrane called synovium, which is part of the joints. When the synovial membrane is invaded by the damaged cells leads to inflammation in the joints, giving rise to rheumatoid arthritis.

Symptoms of people with this disease are fever, tiredness, tingling in hands or feet, pain in the neck, chest or sides of the trunk and dry mouth. A further indication is that white spots appear on the skin, although not in all cases.

This condition primarily affects wrists, knuckles, fingers and toes, elbows, shoulders, hips, knees and ankles. After the inflammation occurs in joints pain, which gradually increases and difficulty carrying out movements. The deformations are slow to appear, and no time to control rheumatoid arthritis may end up damaging bones and ligaments and tendons that is around them.

For treatment, the pharmaceutical market offers two product groups: the first includes those who are used to reduce inflammation and pain coping day to day, which are not useful to change the course of the disease over time. The other group consists of drugs that act by making the activity of the long-term illness is less, but are not effective against pain, are not effective in one hundred percent of the patients, so it is common for the doctor prescribed number of sequentially until you find one that is more effective and better tolerated.

Importantly, the manifestation of rheumatoid arthritis vary from person to person, so it can be said that no two patients alike. It is therefore vitally important to see a rheumatologist at the first signs, as they recognize more than 150 rheumatic diseases that produce symptoms like those described above. He shall determine the treatment to follow because, as noted, each patient has a different diagnosis.

The mini-pill – Birth Control
The combined pill – Birth Control
Injected Contraception: medroxyprogesterone acetate – Birth Control

The mini-pill contains only one hormone, progestin. Progestin thickens the cervical mucus, making it more difficult for sperm to pass through the cervix. It also makes the lining of the uterus less receptive to implantation of a fertilized egg. The progesterone-only pill is sometimes recommended for women who have medical reasons why they should avoid taking hormone oestrogen. (Exceptions may include liver disease, certain types of blood clots in the veins, breast cancer and uterine cancer.) In addition, it is often recommended for women who are breastfeeding because it does no adverse effects on breastfeeding. Indeed, prolonged breastfeeding, and the delay in the need for formula supplementation was observed among users of breastfeeding in the mini-pill.

The mini-pill is taken every day. There is no “on” or “off” days with the mini-pill.

Whatever the type of contraceptive pill uses a woman, she must take each day at the same time to establish a routine. Women need to minimize the risk, she forgets to take the pill, which is not a rare event. This is particularly critical in the case of the progestin-only pill (mini-pill). Forgetting to take the mini-pill, or take it at different times of day, can significantly impair its effectiveness for contraception. This is due to the low dose of the mini-pill causes its effects dissipate quickly if the pill is missed.

When a woman begins taking the pill, it can not protected from pregnancy until she has been taking the pill for 10 consecutive days in a row. If a woman forgets to take a pill after she started, she may be at risk of becoming pregnant.

If she misses one pill, she should take it as soon as she remembers, even if it means taking two pills in one day. If she misses two pills, she should take two of them as soon as she remembers the pill for that day at the usual date. If she misses three pills, she should stop using the pill for four more days to finish a week and then start taking a new pack of pills if she is menstruating or not. It must use another form of birth control or abstain from sexual activity during the week she stops taking her pills. If a woman always forgets to take her pills, maybe she should consider another method of birth control.

The pill may partially lose its effectiveness if a woman vomits or has diarrhea for any reason. Some drugs, including certain sedatives and certain antibiotics such as penicillin and tetracycline may reduce the effectiveness of the pill. Research in this area is ongoing. A woman should ask her health care professional about these issues and the need to use a backup method of birth control, if any of these conditions exist.

Some women experience temporary symptoms to identify or light vaginal bleeding, breast tenderness, and nausea during the first one to three months of pill use. Nausea can be helped if the pill is taken after a meal. While women may fear weight gain with oral contraceptives, studies on low-dose formulations to demonstrate that no significant weight gain with oral contraceptive use and no major difference in the change of weight to compare various products for contraception. changes in negative mood such as depression, and pigmented spots of skin on the face (melasma) can occur with the use of oral contraception. Because progesterone in women can cause thinning of the lining of the uterus, some women may experience a loss of menstruation (amenorrhea). Oral contraceptive-induced amenorrhea occurs in approximately 1% of women in the first year of use. As the woman is taking her pills, amenorrhea is not harmful and it reports no loss of effectiveness of the pill. Most side effects of the combined pill or mini-pill decrease after two to three months of use. It is important to remember that because most of the side effects of oral contraceptives decreased in the first two or three months of use, women should try to avoid switching pills before an adequate trial. Try to stick to a particular product for two to three months may be necessary to truly determine whether or not it will be tolerated in time. Switching too early to another brand may unnecessarily subject the woman to the possibility of side effects similar to starting again with the new pill.

There is no increased risk of birth defects in babies born to women taking the pill, but a woman should not use either type of pill if she is pregnant. A woman who is breastfeeding should not use the combined pill because it can reduce the amount of breast milk and its concentration of protein and fat in her milk. In addition, breast milk contains traces of hormones in the pill. However, unlike the combined pill, the mini-pill is commonly used in lactating women.

Women who smoke and take the pill have an increased risk of heart disease and stroke. There is no increased risk of heart attack or stroke in healthy women non-smokers who use the pill. Blood clots in the legs and elsewhere are a little more frequent with low-dose oral contraceptives, but the risk is very low, and lower than the increased risk of bleeding that occurs with pregnancy. Nevertheless, oral contraceptives are not recommended for women with clotting tendencies (such as anticardiolipin antibodies associated with clotting), known coronary heart disease, stroke, breast lumps not assessed, vaginal bleeding, breast cancer or . Smokers over age 35 should not use oral contraceptives, or women with significant hepatic dysfunction.

A woman should contact her healthcare professional immediately if she experiences any of these side effects by taking the pill:

* Severe headache;

* Leg cramps;

* Changes in vision, including blurred vision, loss of vision or flashing lights;

* Abdominal pain;

* Chest pain;

* Shortness of breath;

* Coughing up blood or

* Leg swelling or pain.

There are a number of advantages to taking the pill. Both the combined pill and the mini-pill can regulate the menstrual cycle of women and reduce menstrual flow and menstrual cramps. There is evidence that the pill protects against cancer of the ovary and the uterus and pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) and iron deficiency anemia. The combined pill can reduce acne (although the maximum reduction of acne may take six months to occur), the risk of ectopic pregnancy, noncancerous breast cysts, and ovarian cysts. According to an extensive study, the combination pill provides no long-term risk of breast cancer. In addition, a woman who took the pill is less likely to develop rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis. The oral contraceptive users experienced significant reductions in excessive menstrual flow and the occurrence and severity of menstrual cramps.

woman’s period should start again in about three months after stopping the oral contraceptive pill-. However, the delay time before the return period of a woman after stopping the pill varies from woman to woman. Oral contraceptives are about 97% effective in preventing pregnancy. The pill does not protect a woman against sexually transmitted infections.

Have you been told that expensive medications or invasive surgeries are the only options for dealing with pain…and that arthritis pain will continue to haunt you no matter what you do?

Don’t believe it!

Chris Callahan is a medical researcher who is waging war on arthritis myths and misconceptions He wants to show you how YOU CAN OVERCOME ARTHRITIS PAIN…even if you can never ‘cure’ arthritis itself.

Click here to get the facts…

Chris is devoted to good health, and he hates to think about people who are suffering needlessly. That’s why he’s given me permission to share a couple of the alternative healing strategies he uncovered to help you and other people on my subscriber list:

TECHNIQUE #1 – EAT YOUR WAY TO HEALTH
Did you know that a few simple changes to your diet can help you stop arthritis pain? It’s true! In the recent years, scientists have identified foods that are friendly to your arthritic conditions:

- GREEN, YELLOW and ORANGE VEGETABLES. They contain high amount of antioxidants, Vitamins C and E. and help to neutralize free radicals which attack the joints.

- BROWN RICE is better for you than corn, wheat, oats, rye, and barley

- COOKED or DRIED FRUITS such as pears, cranberries, and prunes don’t ‘trigger’ arthritis pain the way citrus fruits can

Chris has put together lists of good foods and bad foods, plus the LATEST NEWS on food allergens like eggs, peanuts, and milk.

Click here to get the whole story on arthritis foods…

TECHNIQUE #2 – DRINK JUICE
People with rheumatoid arthritis should include juices high in the anti-inflammatory nutrients as part of their daily diets. These nutrients include beta-carotene (found in parsley, and broccoli juice) and copper (found in carrots, apples and ginger juice).

According to Prevention magazine, 85% OF PATIENTS enjoyed at least partial relief of pain symptoms by simply drinking two glasses of black cherry juice (four ounces of juice diluted with four ounces of water) twice a day

This is just a taste of what Chris has to offer in his wonderful new book “Conquer Arthritis Now – Natural Treatments for Quick Arthritis Relief.”

Click here to learn more about the book and take a peek at what’s between the covers here…

Think of how much better you could be feeling just a few weeks from now!

How to get a marijuana card in Oregon?
I have severe joint point very often, i went to the doctor and I possibly have rheumatoid arthritis (I’ll be going to a professional soon), I am very young and this is pretty discouraging. If I don’t have it, I still have the symptoms pretty often which are very painful.

How would I come back getting a card like this? Would this be easy or hard to do? I don’t have any criminal history. and if it turns out I don’t have it is there still a way I can get the card for the chronic pain?
I have never smoked marijuana because I don’t want to brake the law
but I am scared of other medicine and I’ve heard it is very effective especially for rheumatoid arthritis.

              Arthritis

Arthritis simply means a painful condition of the joints. There are different types of the disease – many inflammatory and others more degenerative in nature.

Arthritis is classified as one of the rheumatic diseases. These are conditions that are different individual illnesses, with differing features, treatments, complications, and prognosis. They are similar in that they have a tendency to affect the joints, muscles, ligaments, cartilage, and tendons, and many have the potential to affect internal body areas as well.

Arthritis sufferers include men and women, children and adults. Approximately 350 million people worldwide have arthritis. Over 40 million people in the United States are affected by arthritis, including over a quarter million children! More than half of those with arthritis are under 65 years of age. Nearly 60% of Americans with arthritis are women.

There are many forms of Arthritis (over 100 have been described so far, and the number is growing). The forms range from those related to wear and tear of cartilage (such as osteoarthritis) to those associated with inflammation as a result of an overactive immune system (such as rheumatoid arthritis). Together, the many forms of arthritis make up the most common chronic illness in the United States.

Arthritis Medications [Sorted by Popularity]

Shallaki®, Celebrex®, Aristocort®, Naprosyn®, Motrin®, Methotrexate®, Prednisolone®, Deltasone®, Anacin®, Generic Motrin®, Imuran®, Benemid®, Probalan®, Indocin®, Etodolac®, Colchicine®, Arava®, Flexisyn®, Feldene®, Azulfidine®, Relafen®, Diclofenac®, Voltaren®, Mobic®.

» View medications: Arthritis

Arthritis Causes

The causes of arthritis depend on the form of arthritis. Causes include injury (leading to degenerative arthritis), inheritance (such as in osteoarthritis), abnormal metabolism (such as gout and pseudogout), infections (such as in the arthritis of Lyme disease), and an overactive immune system (such as rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus). Treatment programs, when possible, are often directed toward the precise cause of the arthritis.

Arthritis Symptoms

Symptoms of arthritis include pain and limited function of joints. Inflammation of the joints from arthritis is characterized by joint stiffness, swelling, redness and warmth. Tenderness of the inflamed joint can be present. Loss of range of motion and deformity can result. Certain forms of arthritis can also be associated with pain and inflammation of tendons surrounding joints.

Some forms of arthritis are more of an annoyance than a serious medical problem. However, millions of people suffer daily with pain and disability from arthritis or its complications. Moreover, many of the forms of arthritis, because they are rheumatic diseases, can cause symptoms affecting various organs of the body that do not directly involve the joints. Therefore, symptoms in some patients with certain forms of arthritis can also include fever, gland swelling, weight loss, fatigue, feeling unwell, and even symptoms from abnormalities of organs such as the lungs, heart, or kidneys.

Types of Arthritis

In literal terms, Arthritis can be defined as the swelling of joints. Arthritis comprises of nearly hundred different types and is classified based on the intensity of inflammation, the way the wear and tear occurs, etc.

Rheumatoid Arthiritis

This type of arthritis is chronic and systematic affecting the joints and leading to an inflammation of the synovitis. It also tends to spread to other parts of the body and tissues. It is an autoimmune disease where the body’s immune system by mistake attacks the synovium and causes arthirtis.

I was then weaned off of the medicine, but in the past month have been put back on it, 40 mg a day. I am on the last few days of this cycle so hopefully it is the last time i will be taking prednisone, ever.

Has anyone had previous experiences with weight gain, if so how did you lose the extra weight and approximately how long did it take?
I look back on pictures from before the prednisone treatment and wish i could get back to having a thinner face, especially before junior prom at the end of the school year.

I had JRA–juvenile rheumatoid arthritis– in my knees and ankles when I was a kid, from age 2-8, then I was in remission. I am 20 now and have recently experienced symptoms of arthritis–stiffness in my ankles when I wake up in the morning, my ankle and knee joints have been hurting, and they’ve also been swollen and warm to the touch. The onset of these symptoms was rather rapid. What are the chances that this could be a relapse of arthritis or a flare?

Also, I run 4 times a week or so, 2.5-4 miles, so I’m hoping that my recent joint aches are a result of this…. but I just thought I’d ask to see some other people’s opinions regarding arthritis. Thank you!

My friend used to be 140 lbs in high school but at the end of her senior year she got the birth control shot. In one year she gained 80 lbs. She went to the doctors and her hormones are all screwed up. She has Arthritis and she is borderline of pre- diabetes. I’m very concerned for her. She exercises 4 times a week for 45 minutes. she either sometimes eats bad or she will only eat 1 or 2 times a day. I dont know how to help her. She really is trying but the weight wont seem to come off. She tries to put on a front and joke around about her weight but i know that she is hurting inside. She likes this one guy but never tries to persue him becuz she thinks he wont like her becuz she is bigger. Also her mom is always making horrible comments about how she is fat and its awful. I’m afraid that her extra weight with arthritis will cripple her, she is only 22 yrs old and has been diagnosed with juvenille rheumatoid arthtitis since she was a baby. Does anyone have advice on how i can help her?

It particularly bad in the mornings (from what I’ve read, this is common). She often ends up crying from pain and frustration. It is leaving her crippled.

Her rheumatologist and doctors have prescribed a cocktail of medications, pain relievers, and steroids, but little seems to really help. I’m trying to persuade her to try acupuncture.

If anyone has any ideas, advice, personal experiences, or insight, it would be much appreciated.
