Rheumatoid Arthritis relief excluding meds?
I’m 35 and I’ve had RA for 2 years. I’m just wondering what kind of things has helped people live active lives with it. I’m not asking about medications, I know all about them, I’m more interested in ways people have been able to reduce the pill popping.
For anyone else information I recently found out that doing very physical forms of yoga 4 to 5 times a week seems to be doing wonders for the inflammation (and my butt looks great!) but I don’t know if that will maintain throughout the winter which is the worst time for me.
NO medication suggestions, I don’t take medical advice from ramdom people online, I have a specialist for that!!!

1. Make sure you include anti-inflammatory foods in your diet, like ginger, turmeric, cayenne pepper, oregano, salmon, garlic, and blueberries.
2. Stay away from decaf coffee. It is associated with an increased incidence of RA.
3. Do not drink homogenized, pasteurized, non-organic milk. The antibiotics can cause a flare up of RA.
4. Eat cruciferous vegetable like cauliflower and broccoli. These foods decrease the risk of RA.
5. Drink green tea. It contains polyphenols that help prevent and treat RA.
6. Get lots of sun to get the benefit of its healing rays. Sunlight deficiency which leads to vitamin D deficiency has been linked to RA. The greatly reduced amount of sunshine in the winter is probably why your RA is worse then. Take Vitamin D3 especially during the winter to compensate for less sun exposure.
7. Try a digestive detox program to clear the toxins out of your body that may be contributing to your RA flareups.
8. The yoga that you are doing is great. You could also try Tai Chi and QiGong, both low impact disciplines that teach you to calm your mind (and lessen your pain) and teach you how to generate an internal energy called chi. Once you learn to generate chi, you can use it to heal yourself. I have osteoarthritis and no longer take any medication. I have no pain and run up and down the stairs because of the healing from doing Tai Chi and QiGong.
You can get more details from the book Stop Growing Older…Grow Younger by J Collin Towers.
8. Use the essential oils Peppermint, Wintergreen, Oregano, Idaho balsam fir, Helichrysum, nutmeg, clove vetiver, marjoram, or cypress for pain relief and increasing circulation. My favorite combination is Helichrysum for pain relief and increasing circulation and Peppermint for its anti-inflammatory properties. I’ll use a couple drops of each of these oils on a painful joint two nights in a row and I’m pain-free for a couple of months at a time. Young Living carries these oils.
Nutrition, gentle mind-based exercise, and natural treatments like the essential oils are the key. You may find that you can reduce or eliminate your medications.
