I am happily married, 32 years old, with 2 great kids already. My doctor says that I absolutely MUST NOT get pregnant. I have some menstrual issues as is (heavy bleeding, sever cramping, family history, etc.) but nothing that major. I want to know if a hysterectomy might be the way to go, since any pregnancy for me will result in birth defects, possible miscarriage or could even cause my death. I already take a lot of medications and have had issues with birth control in the past. Please help me out here. I’m stuck.

i went too my doc today and explained when i wake up ea day my entire body has been in bad pain. the doc gave me 15mgs roxicet x 2 30mgs total and im still in outrageous pain in my limbs. my hands/fingers, legs, feet etc.. my doc is guessing and says possible GOUT? i go for a uric acid test and well see whats up. but for now im taking 15 too 30mgs of oxycodone/roxicodone 6 times day totalling 180mgs and it alleviates about 20% of the pain. now im very scared as this stuff is potent medication and is not working! what could this possibly be? i have water retention in my feet etc.. i have read that if you kindneys fail too eliminate uric acid that this is possible, the test will tell. i think my diet sucks, my exercise level sucks, i drink too much soda and i eat too much of the same stuff. i have no idea of what too eat with a possible gout diagnosis…. my sleep habits are poor, IM A MESS! so im going too the test and see, ANY ADVICE? is this just a bad arthritis flareup? does it get this bad at times? i have osteo and im bein tested for sed rate ie. rheumatoid etc… should i go too a hospital? it hurts my fingers just too type! i dont know what the hell to do?

I have rheumatoid arthritis and am at the moment on a non-dairy diet.I do consume some dairy products with low fat content, but very rarely a in very small amounts.Since this diet is not prescribed by my doctor (but is recommended by arthritis sufferers) I cannot ask her about the protein.
I was wondering if the whey protein contains enough substances to counteract the effect of my diet?
My goal is to gain weight.

Last year I began jogging everyday and after about two months of it my rheumatoid arthritis kicked in and my knee swelled up to the point of not being able to bend it. Currently I do lower impact cardio activities but I really enjoyed running and I want to start again. Does anyone know of a good knee brace that will potentially help with the high impact of running so that it does not cause too much stress on my knee?

I have been taking MTX for about 1 year and started Remicade about 4 months ago (I have received 5 infusions so far). For the first couple months the Remicade seemed to work amazingly but for the last 2 months or so I continue to have pain and stiffness before, right through and after my treatments. I mentioned this to my rheumatologist and he increased my dose with no real difference ( I will of course mention this at our next check up). My question is has anyone else had experience with Remicade’s effectiveness wearing off? Also does anyone have experience with other TNF Inhibitors such as Humira and Enbrel? Anyone switched meds and found that one worked better than another for them? If one Biological Modifier doesn’t work does that mean that they all wont work for me? Thanks!

For more than 3 weeks I have had intense, debilitating pain. When it first started, I could not raise my arm above half way. The pain migrated into my elbows, wrists, fingers and now knees (symmetrical). It is difficult to walk in the mornings and I have pain all day. I can barely type and my hands and wrists feel a though they are being smashed with a hammer they hurt so bad. There is obvious joint swelling; I can’t even wear my wedding ring. The pain is getting worse daily and my first anti-inflammatory did not help. My doctor prescribed me a new one, Mobic, which I have been taking for three days which is also not helping.
The doctor took a myriad of blood tests to identify potential arthritis. The tests came back normal for the most part, with only a negligibly raised RA factor. He thinks I have no problem. I am still going to a Rheumatologist, but I am in awe that my tests are not pointing to RA as I was convinced that is what I had. I’m thankful if it isn’t, but I’m confused. How common is a misdiagnosis? My sister was recently diagnosed with an autoimmune disease similar to RA that was undiagnosed for sometime. My doctor clearly thinks I am fine, but I know I am not, and you can see the joint issues by simply looking at my body.
