I was thinking of accutane?
I’ve struggled with acne all my lfe, I’m now 37. Right now, I’m not so bad. I use the acne-free topical system (similar to Proactive) , and I eat a diet that is only vegetables. A lot of fruits give me breakouts, even some veggies do , like onions and red peppers. My diet is so limited though, and I’m 6’0, 145 lbs.
Acne aside, I thoroughly believe in eating only fruits nuts and veggies, it’s just that the fruits in particular make me break out.
Even if I ate totally perfect, I still think I would need to use something topical. I’d still get blackheads and very small whiteheads, though not huge cystic acne.
I guess my question is, if I was to go on accutane, would I still need to use something topical?
Would I still have to eat like I do?
Would it make my face break out worse, even though it’s not bad now??
One last thing, I have rheumatoid arthritis, and I wonder if accutane would be bad to take with the Methotrexate and Celebrex I currently take.

Please don’t take Accutane, it will NOT cure the acne, it only repress it. The acne WILL return and be far harder to get rid of, once you’ve poisoned your body with this very well known toxin! It will cause your brain to stop making serotonin (the chemical that makes you feel good). Remember all those suicides attributed to Accutane? That’s what it does to your brain.
If your dermatologist deems that you’d be a good candidate for the accutane, then you should take it. I’ts a wonderful drug, which in a large number of cases, seems to “cure” the disorder; in others, it at least gives long term remission. Only a very few patients experience worsening when starting on the drug. Since diet really has no effect on the development of acne, but rather hormonal changes do, then you should be able to eat whatever you’d like (unless your lipid studies indicate otherwise). As a rule, no topical agent is required when your’e on accutane. There are no drug-drug interactions with accutane and the RA drugs u are on.
Are any of the veggies you are eating fried???
I found out that I broke out real bad if I eat fried potatoes.
There is a chemical change when some food is heated and it makes a chemical which people have reactions to.
