I am a 21 year old male living in New Jersey. I recently learned that medical marijuana has been legalized in my state, but apparently our marijuana laws are stricter than some places like California. I have rheumatoid arthritis and have been in treatment by an arthritis specialist for over a year now.
I know there is medical evidence to support that medical marijuana can be used to reduce pain and even reduce inflammation in the joints of arthritis patients.
So my question is how difficult is it to get medical marijuana for my condition or is it even possible with my condition? If it is possible where I live, how do I go about starting off getting on this program? I was thinking about asking my specialist about it at my next appointment but I’m afraid I can get in trouble for asking about it.
Thanks in advanced for any positive advice that you can offer. Please don’t try to convert me away from this idea either or give me a speech about the morals behind this either. I’m in terrible pain every day of my life and I don’t want to have to rely on narcotics like opiates to get my old life back. Marijuana has never directly been linked to cancer alone (meaning someone caught cancer by smoking only marijuana and not tobacco), it isn’t physically addictive, and it is much physically safer than any other form of relief I have tried thus far that actually works. So once again, thanks, but don’t even bother wasting your time tell me that I shouldn’t smoke cannabis, or why I shouldn’t smoke cannabis. Thanks.

Without obstacles, people would have nothing to overcome, nothing to aspire to become, and nothing to gain approbation from. Obstacles are what gives people motivation and courage to live to the best of their ability. Throughout the years, obstacles and challenges have molded the very people that adults, teenagers, and children alike have strived to be like. When individuals mold their lives after people such as Bethany Hamilton, Lucille Ball, and Thomas Edison, they begin to realize that through obstacles, courage and inspiration give people the ability to succeed.
At the age of 13, Bethany Hamilton, a competitive surfer, was forced to reteach herself how to surf competitively with only one arm when her left arm was ripped from her body by a Tiger shark. She survived, but the traumatic accident nearly took her life. Before the accident Hamilton had competed and won many surfing competitions, but after the accident Hamilton didn’t know if she would ever be able to surf again. Instead of taking the attack as an innuendo to stop surfing, Hamilton, with determination and strength, found the inspiration that helped her continue on with her dream. Hamilton went on to become take 1st place in the NSSA National Championships, a goal she had been trying to achieve since before the shark attack. Hamilton is truly an inspiration to everyone regarding how even the greatest obstacles can be overcome.
A great american actress, Lucille Ball’s teachers attempted to expostulate her saying that she “had no future at all as a performer”, but she never let that stop her from doing what she loved. Instead of feeling down about the word of her teachers, Ball attempted to assuage her feelings through success. Ball was determined to prove her teachers wrong, in 1929 she landed work as a fashion model. Her career was thriving until she became ill with rheumatoid arthritis and was unable to work for two years. During those years, Ball tried to pursue acting again and finally landed a role in “I Love Lucy”, which ultimately proved her teachers wrong and helped her become the well-known actress that she is today. Without the obstacle of her teacher’s discouragement Ball may have never found the determination to do what she loved.
Thomas Edison failed over 2,000 times before he finally succeeding in the creation of the lightbulb. When people tried to illicit information about these failures, he responded “I didn’t fail, I found 2,000 ways how not to make a light bulb; I only need to find one way to make it work.” This attitude is what all people need to have when trying to overcome obstacles in their life. If Thomas Edison had given up, the United States would not be where it is today. Edison is a prime example of how without first having an obstacle to overcome you will not succeed.
Success is the goal in almost everything in life, but without obstacles to first overcome, success would not be as important. Bethany Hamilton, Lucille Ball, and Thomas Edison are some of the best examples of prevailing over obstacles and eventually becoming triumphant. Everyone should follow the examples set forth by these role models in how to conquer obstacles.

My friend used to be 140 lbs in high school but at the end of her senior year she got the birth control shot. In one year she gained 80 lbs. She went to the doctors and her hormones are all screwed up. She has Arthritis and she is borderline of pre- diabetes. I’m very concerned for her. She exercises 4 times a week for 45 minutes. she either sometimes eats bad or she will only eat 1 or 2 times a day. I dont know how to help her. She really is trying but the weight wont seem to come off. She tries to put on a front and joke around about her weight but i know that she is hurting inside. She likes this one guy but never tries to persue him becuz she thinks he wont like her becuz she is bigger. Also her mom is always making horrible comments about how she is fat and its awful. I’m afraid that her extra weight with arthritis will cripple her, she is only 22 yrs old and has been diagnosed with juvenille rheumatoid arthtitis since she was a baby. Does anyone have advice on how i can help her?

I’ve had x-rays, an MRI, and blood tests done that haven’t pinpointed the exact cause. I’ve been seeing a rheumatologist because the doctors suspect I might have rheumatoid arthritis. The medication they gave me worked for a month or two, but my swollen knee is back. I’ve begun to wonder if the doctors really know what’s wrong. I used Webmd and researched pseudogout and gout, which also match my symptoms. Anyone have any idea at all?

I have arthritis all over, bursitis and rheumatoid factor is positive.
I signed up for a health club to get some weight off and get back into shape (had a car accident last year and it messed me up so my neck hurts everyday). The treadmill is ok, but the other day on the stationary bike my knees got so painfuul i had to stop after 5 min (i was able to do 30 min before). So I tried the Arctrainer (elliptical machine?) and if i put it on manual and keep my legs straight, i can go at a pretty good clip. what other machines or exercises can i do with painful knees? I am 45 and a woman w/hypertension (another reason to workout).

Create your own DIY guide at www.howcast.com or produce your own Howcast spots with the Howcast Filmmakers Program at www.howcast.com Some common-sense precautions can help keep you safe from this potentially deadly infection. To complete this How-To you will need: Hand washing Knowledge of symptoms Prompt medical attention Isolation A face mask Hand washing Knowledge of symptoms Prompt medical attention Isolation A face mask Step 1: Understand the infection Understand what it is. Swine flu is a respiratory disease of pigs caused by the influenza virus. Usually the virus does not infect humans, but transmission can sometimes occur in persons with direct exposure to pigs. The current outbreak has been caused by human-to-human transmission. Step 2: Understand how it spreads Swine flu is spread between humans like a cold: A person can catch it by being sneezed, coughed, or breathed on by a carrier, or by touching a surface that has the virus on it and then touching their own nose, eyes, or mouth. Direct contact with infected pigs can also transmit the virus to people, and vice versa. So far, no other animals can transmit the virus to humans. Tip: You cannot get swine flu from eating cooked pork or pork products. Step 3: Wash your hands Wash your hands with warm water …
