Rheumatoid Arthritis in Dogs

For those of you who don’t know what Rheumatoid Arthritis is, it’s basically this immune mediated sort of disease? This usually happens when you have an overreaction in the immune system. When you have rheumatoid arthritis your body will think that some of its own protein is foreign protein. Hence these antibodies which are unique are also called rheumatoid factor. The protein as well as the antibodies together forms the immune complexes which are usually deposits in the joints. This leads to inflammation. In the cause of dog arthritis the joints get harmed. It also makes the lining of the uterus less receptive to implantation of a fertilized egg. The progesterone-only pill is sometimes recommended for women who have medical reasons why they should avoid taking hormone oestrogen. In addition, it is often recommended for women who are breastfeeding because it does no adverse effects on breastfeeding. Indeed, prolonged breastfeeding, and the delay in the need for formula supplementation was observed among users of breastfeeding in the mini-pill.

The mini-pill is taken every day. There is no “on” or “off” days with the mini-pill.
